I will take your word on the Gymnastic games but I remember folks being turned away from some of those games...but my memory is not what it use to be...but

As to Tubby games, I worked with some of his players and I can remember standing on the sideline and looking around at an empty Steg. The lower seats, the reserved seats, were all but empty, and the upper seats were soso filled but definitely remember a few kids studying. Without a doubt. But you are probably right in that he filled most games...but definitely not all and no, I am not talking about the exhibition games where there were empty seats.
